St. Basil Scholarship Fund

We will provide scholarships to promote a whole & humanistic Orthodox education for K12 students across the nation. With a new tax credit, a majority of American taxpayers can donate $1,700 starting in 2027 and receive it back in full at tax refund time. Help us launch by donating, pledging, or volunteering to spread the word today.

Our Mission

The St. Basil Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to K–12 students for qualified elementary or secondary education expenses. The Fund supports students attending Eastern Orthodox schools or students from Eastern Orthodox families attending certain schools (including some home schools).

Beginning in 2027, a new federal tax credit will allow many Americans to potentially contribute up to $1,700 to these scholarships at net zero cost (i.e. dollar for dollar increase in your refund or decrease in tax liability). Read more on our page about the tax credit. We are currently working to become eligible for operation in various states by 2027.

Our Vision

By providing scholarships, we pray that more students will have a classical, liberal, and integrative education that awakens wonder, kindles a love of learning, sharpens discernment, produces good citizens, gives birth to love, leads to worship, and reintegrates fallen humanity. See more about our philosophy.

As an organization, we support the education of students materially by complementing and supplementing existing fundraising strategies at Orthodox, private, public, and home schools. To support our wider vision, we aim to connect parents of Orthodox students to conversations about what true education in wisdom, wonder, and virtue might look like in their family’s particular circumstances. Ultimately, we use the material and financial incentives of a changing regulatory landscape to pursue a spiritual good, providing a trusted place for charitable giving for those who care about good and whole education which includes the Faith.

How to help

  • Donate now to help us start our program: make a tax-deductible donation.
  • Pledge to make a tax credit donation in 2027: pledge.
  • Volunteer to help us connect with schools or students who might need help paying for qualified educational expenses at public, private, religious, or home schools: we are looking for volunteer state coordinators to assist in the formation process in each state. Reach out: contact@basiliad.org

It costs about $1,000 to launch in each state. Please consider becoming a Founding Sponsor of the St. Basil Scholarship Fund by donating now to make possible our work.
